2021年にオープンしたザ・ビーチリゾート瀬底。小田原に続いて国内2番目のHilton Grand Vacationsの滞在型リゾート施設だ。全室オーシャンビューで視界いっぱいに広がる青い海と白砂のビーチが日常を忘れさせてくれる。その施設の顔となるロビーに眩しいほどの黄色いタイルを、また各部屋のキッチンとシャワールームには艶のない落ち着いた黄色とオレンジ色が混在したタイルを制作した。タイルデザインは日本を代表するデザイナー橋本夕紀夫氏。サンゴのかたちをモチーフにしている。橋本氏と打ち合わせを重ね、焼き物の特性、タイル割付、釉薬の可能性などをアドバイスさせてもらいながら試作を繰り返し、Hilton Grand Vacationsに相応しいタイルが完成した。タイルが空間を華やかにし、タイルが寛ぎの時の景色にもなろう。

The Beach Resort Sesoko opened in 2021. It is the second Hilton Grand Vacations residencial resort in Japan after Odawara. All rooms have an ocean view, and the blue sea and white sand beach that fills the field of vision will make you forget your everyday life. I produced dazzling yellow tiles for the lobby, which is the face of the establishment, and a mixture of calm yellow and orange tiles for the kitchens and shower rooms in each room. The tile design was by Yukio Hashimoto, a leading Japanese designer. The motif is the shape of coral. After repeated meetings with Mr Hashimoto and multiple prototypes production based on my advice on the characteristics of the pottery, tile allocation and glaze possibilities, tiles perfect for the Hilton Grand Vacations were completed. The tiles will enliven the spaces, and can also become the scenery of relaxation.
