著名なHair & Make-Upアーティストの二法田サトシ氏が主宰する美容院「Faccie」。美を追求する空間だ。エントランスの床は大理石を星形にカットし、お手製のタイルの組み合わせで入り組んだボーダーの装飾をした。石の柔らかさとタイルの温かみが大切なお客様をお出迎え、お見送りする場にふさわしく、お店全体の格を上げる役割も担っている。シャンプー台を囲う幾何学モザイクは、私がモロッコで修得したZellije（ゼッリージュ・モロッコで1000年の歴史がある幾何学模様の彩釉タイルモザイク）を日本の土と釉薬、焼成温度を用いてアレンジした作品である。私にとってゼッリージュはタイルの魅力に引き込まれた大切な財産であり、ここぞという時の発想の武器でもある。そう、私のタイルのキャリアはゼッリージュに守られているのだろう。

Faccie is a beauty salon run by renowned hair & make-up artist Satoshi Nihouda. Faccie is a place pursuing beauty. The entrance floor is made of marble cut into star shape and decorated with a combination of handmade tiles in an intricate border. The softness of the stone and the warmth of the tiles are suitable for welcoming and seeing off every customer, and also play a role in enhancing the overall elegance of the shop. The geometric mosaic surrounding the shampoo table is an adaptation of zellije (geometric tile mosaic with a 1000-year history in Morocco), which I learnt in Morocco, using Japanese clay, glaze and firing temperatures. For me, zellije is an important asset that drew me to the fascination of tiles, and a secret weapon of ideas for crucial moments. My career in tiles seems to have been supported by zellije.
